American Baptist College is accredited with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). ABHE is a nationally approved agency by the U.S. Department of Education and is a recognized agency of the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), a private, nonprofit “umbrella organization” that coordinates accreditation activity of the voluntary accrediting agencies in the United States.

American Baptist College has been recognized by the U. S. Department of Education  as one of the nation’s Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs).  The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, defines an HBCU as: “…any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans…”

American Baptist College is listed as an approved institution of higher education by  the following agencies and/or associations:

The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs for the raining of Veterans.

The U.S. Justice Department, Immigration and Naturalization Service for the training of foreign students.

The Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation of the State of Tennessee, for the training of students with disabilities.
