The first structure built on campus to both house and educate students, Griggs Hall is named after the first president of ABC, Sutton E. Griggs Sr., and his father, Allen Griggs. In 2015, it was renovated into a “living-learning center.” Because of the Civil Rights activities that took place in the building, Griggs Hall is registered as a historic site on the National Register of Historic Places.
