Borrowing

Borrowing material is generally three weeks, but exact dates are indicated on the checkout receipt. Renewals may be requested but are solely left at the discretion of the lending institution. Renewals can be done in person or over the phone by contacting the reference desk at 615-687-6935 between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Tennessee State University-Brown Daniel Library Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement

  1. American Baptist Students and faculty residing in Tennessee can check out four items with a Tennessee driver’s license.
  2. For non-residents, print items can be requested through interlibrary loan (ABC’s ILL program is through the Nashville Public Library).

Textbook Reserves

Reserve books are marked (RES) and cannot circulate outside the library. Students may check out reference items at 1 to 2-hour intervals if they remain inside the library. Faculty may donate textbooks for each semester class for students to review inside the library. After using reference books in the library, library users are to place them on the reference desk instead of reshelving them so library staff can record their in-library use.

Reserving a Classroom

To reserve any space in the library for scholarly purposes, you must e-mail Ms. Angel Pridgen at apridgen@abcnash.edu and cc Mr. Keaton Walkine (kwalkine@abcnash.edu) and Dr. William Green (wmgreen@abcnash.edu). The subject line should say: Room Reservation Request and indicate the date desired (Ex. Room Reservation Request for 01/01/2023). In the body of the email, please mention which room you would like to reserve, starting and ending time, any assistance you may need (for example, you will need three tables or group seating), and any required equipment or equipment that you plan to bring, so that we may better assist you.

Once we have reviewed your request, we will send you a follow-up to confirm whether your booking has been accepted. We encourage faculty and staff to book rooms at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability.  You may call 615-687-6935 for further inquiries.

Remote Services

Most electronic resources, especially the research databases, eBooks, and streaming video content to which the library subscribes, are governed by license agreements that restrict access to current American Baptist College students, faculty, and staff when accessed from off-campus. Remote access to these resources requires authentication using your American Baptist College e-mail address and password. Electronic databases provided by the Tennessee Electronic Library will allow users immediate access if students are currently residing in the state of Tennessee.

Interlibrary Loans

Currently, we do not offer Interlibrary Loans. Please check back in the future for updated information.
