When: Monday, September 30, 2019–10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
What: Dr. Forrest E. Harris, President, American Baptist College, and Tennessee District Director, LaTanya Channel, U. S. Small Business Administration, will give the opening remarks today at the “SBA In Your Community” event developed to support and grow small businesses in North Nashville. Over 300 local entrepreneurs have registered to attend. Dr. LaShante Walker, Provost, will provide information about the College’s Entrepreneurial Leadership degree program.
Over 20 nonprofits that support business development will be present to exhibit and mentor attendees—including the Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and others.
Why: This initiative is a joint effort between American Baptist College (ABC), one of Nashville’s leading Historically Black Colleges & Universities, and the SBA to inspire business growth and economic development among diverse entrepreneurs and prospective business owners.
Encouraging business ownership and success is an important tool in diminishing Middle Tennessee’s economic disparities. The event is being hosted by ABC.
